Michael Anderson

Assistant Priest

Michael was born and brought up in Surrey, attending Emmanuel Church Tolworth , where he was baptised, confirmed, and married to Sylvia in July 1966. He was ordained in the September, having trained at Trinity Bristol.  He served at Fareham and Basingstoke, before moving to Hordle. During his varied career he has also served on Bishop’s Council, Cathedral Council, as Honorary Canon of Winchester, and as Rural Dean of Lyndhurst.

He has three married daughters, all serving with different roles in various churches, and six grandchildren.

He has been involved in children’s and teenage camps and house parties, and for many years organised parish holidays round the UK, Europe and especially many visits to the Middle East. He retired to Ringwood in 2007 and divides his ministry between the two benefices of Ringwood and Fordingbridge – especially at Hyde and Ellingham.

Hobbies, as time allows, include photography, reading, and – like many clergy ‘with a frustrated sense of power’ – steam railways, including model railways
