Alex Sains
Deacon
Alex was ordained deacon in June 2025 and is currently one of our assistant curates, working for us part time.
Alex has had a busy career working as a speech therapist, running her own business and specialising in the areas of self-esteem and social and emotional communication. She is also an author and trainer, and still works part time lecturing and writing.
But in all areas of her life, she has a passion for inclusion. From her years of work with people with an intellectual disability and mental health difficulties, to being married to someone who is autistic, to being a mum of a transgender child - she sees diversity as something to embrace and nurture.
She is married to Brian and has 3 grown up children and 4 grandchildren.
Her interests are animals (she is a keen vegetarian!), walking, singing, playing the piano and guitar, and composing songs – and as part of this love for music, she enjoys being the leader of our AVC worship band ‘The Mustard Seeds’.
She also enjoys a glass of wine and a good film.
